Fifty dazzling aerial photographs snapped by people around the world are part of a creative new photography contest and it is giving us spectacular shots of landscapes across the world.

A team of visionaries in Barcelona developed an app - AGORA images - that allows anyone, anywhere to upload their best shots.

AGORA says it’s on a mission to democratise photography, so that everyone can participate - all they need is a smartphone. In its first few months AGORA says it’s already got over two million users across 193 countries.

Every week, the AGORA users participate in contests around one of the 52 annual hashtags representing universal themes such as #aerial, #travel, #love or #beauty. They can enter their own photos, and vote for the best photos in each category. Up for grabs - cash prizes ($1400 for best in category) or photo gear.

On top of that a guest judge helps voters choose the best image overall, which will win $37,000. That winner will be announced in November.
