IFLA looking for leaders
IFLA is looking for six experienced members to chair working groups within it’s committees. Putting out the call, president James Hayter said the working groups are a crucial mechanism by which IFLA can focus on key issues facing the landscape architecture profession.
“We now have exciting opportunities to chair 6 of these groups. I’d encourage anyone who has a passion in any of these areas to consider applying.”
The working groups are climate change, awards, link working group, congress, student competition and education capacity building strategy working group.
The Climate Change working group shapes IFLA’s response to climate crises. Working collaboratively with IFLA World Regions, and with the 77 National Associations of the World Council, it’s purpose is to improve understanding of the pace of environmental change, and the ramifications globally, nationally and locally. It also looks for innovative approaches and mechanisms to relieve, assist, and restore areas after a natural disasters.
The Awards working group is a new one, aimed at leading the organisation, development, launch and delivery of the IFLA Awards.
The purpose of the Link working group is to be in charge of the compilation and generation of all the information IFLA wants to share through its different media of communication such as social media, the Knowledge Hub and its website.
The Congress group is another new one which has been established to contribute to the development and delivery of the annual IFLA World Congresses, while the Student Competition aims to recognise superior achievements made by students in landscape architecture programmes.The chair of this group needs prior experience in competition matters and has to be a well respected practitioner, researcher or educator.
The new chair of the Education Capacity Building Strategy group must also be well respected and have previous experience in education capacity building.
