Turf Design Studio named Landscape Architecture firm of the year

Sydney-based landscape architecture and urban design practice Turf Design Studio has been selected as the Landscape Architecture Firm of the Year 2021 by the Architecture MasterPrize jury.

The studio was recognised for its “tireless efforts and outstanding achievement in bringing together ecology, community and functionality into landscape architecture and urban planning, whilst creating cutting edge designs that respond to the authenticity of the local area,” the international panel of judges said.

As part of its review the jury examined a wide selection of award-winning work from Turf over the past ten years, including Sydney Park Water Re-Use Project, Gosford Leagues Club Field and Central Park.

“We can’t thank the jury enough for this incredible honour,” Turf director Mike Horne said. “The AMP is a premier awards program for architecture and design. The fact that there are so many other phenomenal landscape architecture firms around the world makes this award really special.

The Architecture MasterPrize celebrates the very best in design excellence and innovation from the worlds of Architectural, Interior, and Landscape Architecture. The awards program is dedicated to showcasing and promoting exceptional talent, and the value of the art and science of architecture in enriching lives.

For its sixth edition the AMP received its highest number of entries yet. AMP head of communications, David Tera, says the standard of projects was “truly exceptional, with entries displaying astounding creative and technical talent.

“We were blown away by the quality of AMP entries this year,” Tera said. “The level of ingenuity showcased in the projects was both impressive and inspiring. This year's winners have shown exceptional talent and have set a new benchmark for architectural design.

“The AMP jurors were pleased to see how many of the projects emphasised sustainability, offering solutions to our ever-changing world and environmental challenges, proving that innovative design goes beyond aesthetics”.
